Ki-44 Shoki, Bomber Rammer
Study this piece in greater detail:
Counter
Designed as the Japanese Imperial Army's front-line conventional bomber interceptor, the Ki-44 Shoki
resembled a Benbix Trophy racer; built around its powerful engine.

By mid-1945 the Army was on the brink of grounding its air force in expectation of an Allied invasion - but
not before the creation of several "Tokkotai" units to fight American B-29 armadas.

This aircraft's primary offensive tactic was to ram B-29s at full speed; aiming for the bombers' vulnerable
tail sections.  The collision often meant death for the Ki-44's pilot - but the cost was regarded as
defensible in light of Japan's dire war situation.
